Nature vacation in destinature village

If you love to wake up with the beauty of the birdsong, feel the meadow under your feet on your way to breakfast and take a shower under the stars, then the destinature village is the place for you. Here, everyone who feels at home outdoors meets to pass time in the middle of nature. Spend the night in comfortable tiny houses or in the mobile bed to go. Everything is made from natural materials such as largely untreated wood, wool or cotton, in typical W ERKHAUS style. In addition to our destinature village Hitzacker, we have opened another holiday camp in Ernzen in the southern Eifel in mid-August – the destinature village Südeifel.

Our bistro is open to you for breakfast, a snack in between or even for a relaxed dinner. Everything we offer is organic and is – as far as possible – supplied by our partners from the region. The bistro is the heart of the destinature village, where you will always find one of us during the day, to chat and to get the best travel hints for the region.

Of course, our destinature saunas are also located in the middle of nature. The heated hot tubs and the outdoor showers make your destinature wellness experience perfect.

Nature is our destination

With the destinature village, we have created a holiday destination built around a respectful relationship with nature. A place made for unique experiences and lasting memories. Because we believe that nothing gives us such an immediate sense of freedom as nature itself. Since November 2024, the destinature village in Hitzacker has carried the EU Ecolabel in recognition of its verified environmental performance. The destinature village in the Southern Eifel was awarded the EU Ecolabel in August 2025 and therefore also ranks among the leading accommodation providers in the EU in terms of environmental performance.

Earlier, in December 2021, the destinature village received two awards at the German Tourism Awards (German Tourism Award): first place as well as the ADAC Audience Award. In March 2022, we also won the “Environmental Protection and Biodiversity” category in the fairwärts competition organised by TourCert and KATE Environment & Development. Discover and experience the destinature village for yourself!

Sustainable innovation is funded by the EU

The entire destinature village was built using carefully selected materials and a construction method designed for disassembly. The aim of this project is to strengthen the growing ecological awareness in tourism. Therefore, the European Fund for Regional Development supports the set-up and the pilot phase of the first Werkhaus destinature village Hitzacker.

This project was funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
